Vana Tallinn Trophy 2005

Vana Tallinn Trophy 2005

The second Vana Tallinn Trophy, an adult competition in Estonia! Skaters from six nations participated in solo and team dance, freestyle and pairs. There were some special Vana Tallinn touches, like getting bottles of Vana Tallinn at the awards ceremony..

Left, Alexander Romanov from Russia gets ready. Alex and fans up in the stands (he's holding a camera NOT giving me the finger). Right, the announcers at work with Piret in the background.

A couple of Axelle and Fiona, first in their interp outfits then in their dance. That's Maire Arm of Estonia in back. Right, Brits and Estonians. Axelle with Estonians Reet Kochberg, Piret Valamaa, and Maire.

Some awards shots, left, the Estonian ladies on ice. Center Russian skater Julia Vertebnaya with myself and Piret. Finally, the interpretive ladies on the podium.

Piret and Julia at the medieval feast. It was quite handy that Piret speaks Russian. Center the British men - David Calverly and Allan Pascoe. More Brits.. David with Gayle Calverly and Allan.

More Britons, Axelle Oxborrow, Fiona Brown, and Chris Pascoe on the podium. In the center you can see that we had a pretty good crowd for a small adult event! Finally, Gayle and Maire get their medals (and Vana Tallinn).

Singapore takes the ice! Chow Ying Lee in a spiral, on the podium for the Gold Ladies with Estonian Terje Vingissaar, and with Estonian dancer Peeter Laur.

Now the important stuff - the feast. A place called the Olde Hansa serves an authentic medieval feast, complete with wild boar, quail's eggs, and rose pudding. In the center is Serge, Julia's husband.

The rink and flags, then two pics of the young girls of Pohjataht who put together another routine to honor the adults. Unlike last year where they opened the event, this time they ended the competition.
