We want AT LEAST 50,000 (30,272 valid) signatures collected between Jan 20 and July 19, 2000. This is being done mostly with volunteer effort, so we would love to have your help. Some paid circulators are also being used (cost about $1 per signature -- donations go to address at bottom of page).

Do you want to see GREEN PARTY candidates on the ballot in 2000 for the first time in Michigan?? And be able to vote for someone besides Gore/Bush?? (the newest incarnations of the Republicrat dynasty that continues to hand over our democracy to the corporate money machine)

Candidates:
Seeking Nomination: (at July 29 state convention)

Purposes of Petition Drive:

  1. To put the Green Party of Michigan onto the ballot for the Nov 2000 elections. This includes local, county, state, and national offices. Then, assuming our presidential candidate gets 1% as many votes as all votes cast for Sec of State in the prior election, we are automatically on the ballot for the year 2002 elections.

  2. To build the Green Party AND Green Movement in Michigan to be an effective force for progressive change toward a sustainable economy (e.g., jobs with a living wage), sustainable ecology (e.g., taxing use of non-renewable resources rather than individual income), sustainable democracy (e.g., proportional representation), and sustainable society (e.g., true respect for diversity).

  3. In league with other progressive parties and organizations, keep important issues of social justice, democracy, education & sustainability prominently in the electoral debate and in citizens' consciousness regardless of who gets elected.
